At work i am doing the usual helping guest, helping around the store, etc. We get a call for hardlines(it would be things like bathrooms and home appliances) and as i am the closest to the area i decide to pick up the call. Fortunately another co-worker picked up the call. Bad part is i had to help the guest find what she is looking for.
As i answer the phone i she was talking in a way i could not understand her. My co-worker did warn me that she talked ghetto. Anyway guest was looking for bathroom rugs, in particular red ones. As i check where we have them, i tell her we don’t have any on the floor but i can check if we have any in the back. I didn’t find any in back and i checked another spot that would have them. I did manage to find one(remember all this time i am talking to the guest) and she asks if we had small ones.
I tell the guest we have no small small rugs and only the big ones. This went on for a few minutes, trying to tell her what we have and what we don’t, partly since i can barely understand here. After that we get into what the price of said items were but the way she said threw me off. Instead of saying “price” like people usually say it, instead she said “prize”. I had to ask her multiple times what she meant. I honestly thought she was asking what the prize was. Finally cleared that up and as soon as i finally do i ask if i can help her with anything else and she hung up on me mid sentence.
So after all this i couldn’t help but laugh because i couldn’t understand ghetto talk, it took 20 minutes to help her, and because i felt somewhat bad.
